Four Months

Last Friday my mom suggested we meet up to take pictures of Bruce in the Texas bluebonnets. This picture sums up what Bruce thought of the plan.

It was pretty warm out and he was probably tired and hungry so epic fail on my part for not properly setting him up for the shoot.. Next year will be better especially with him sitting up for pictures and potentially trying to eat the flowers.

Chilling in Magnolia with his Great Mamaw....what a baby blob. So relaxed.

This week Daddy put him on his shoulders for the first time! Big Success!!!

Bruce ended up drooling on Dan at the end.

Bruce turned 4 months on my mom's birthday!

Cool stuff goin' on:
kicking his tummy time hangy deals with his feet
working that left hand grabbing things
spits bubbles
ticklish at his tiny hips and tummy
fussy and a big smarty pants wanting the best perspective to see everything
loves to smile
enjoys the baby sling when we are out and about
still enjoys seeing over your shoulders
eats a lot, all the time
reaches and touches and grabs my face!!!
gets bored pretty easy and yells about it

Travel Size Bruce

This past weekend my parents took Bruce and me along on their trip to Baton Rouge to watch LSU's spring football game. I busted out all the baby sized purple and gold outfits and we crossed state lines on Friday.

We went grocery shopping and spotted this super cool dude with his fine purchase.

We almost bought one for ourselves but we draw the line of a funny purchase when it's over $35.

The next day we headed into the stadium. Never thought I'd enter that place with a baby.

Epic selfie.

Back to Texas, Our Texas.

Little man is almost four months. He is sord of, kind of able to sit up. I cried at this moment.

Mr Man is such a morning person. I took him to the Bunny early one morning and he got the pic in maybe three takes. I'd like to take credit for his delightful morning disposition but that would be a complete and utter lie.

We stayed out all day running some errands. While he is a morning person, he is not an all day dude. By the afternoon he was ready for home and gave me an icy stare. Over it.

Icy stare and all, 3 month Bruce has been a complete dream. Getting him in and out of his carrier, negotiating strollers and front packs and slings, and toys and blinky lights and baby toys with stupid baby music...I can handle it. I am so thankful for our big boy.

Getting The Hang Of Things

I'm getting better at remembering that I have a baby all the time. I mean, I haven't had one for 26 years then all of a sudden, I do. You can't blame me. Plus I hadn't been running on all cylinders over the past three months what with recovering from major surgery (c-section) and my hormones messing up my brain.

One time I went to get the mail while Bruce was sleeping. I figured it was a quick trip and I wouldn't set up the monitor to bring with me. On my way back to the house I started wandering the front yard checking on my plants. A few minutes went by when it dawned on me that I had a baby and I should go check on him.

Then one evening I started cooking dinner and left the baby on his tummy time mat. I went to cooking, doing my usual routine of staring down my pantry for ingredients and so on, having a pretty good time. A few minutes had passed when I realized I had a baby and should probably go check on him.

This does not happen often, I promise. And it is so goofy when I realize I have a baby. I MEAN, I HAVE A BABY!!! haha...crazy right?!

The third month has been such a relief.  It is safe to say that Bruce will not be an only child. Up until this point I was certain he would be. We are still going through diapers like crazy. We are still having bouts of crying where he wont accept my soothing. But he is mostly sleeping through the night and going to bed between 8 and ten as opposed to midnight or one, like before. I feel like a whole new lady. I'm better able to problem solve and make his life easier and therefore my life as well.

My new favorite pastime, matching faces:
