I Got A Lizard Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey!

Last night is was raining outside in a calm and beautiful way so Dan and I sat outside on the swing to enjoy it.   On the swing was one of Lily-Dog's favorite things, a lizard. It hung out on the swing with us for a bit then spider man jumped to a Christmas light strand I have refused to take down. I decided to be brave and grab it. Me and the lizard cuddled. Dan got the iPhone for pics.

This is the part where Dan got the flash going and said, "Lizard PHOTOSHOOT"!!

I'm American. I Like Cold Drinks.

For the field day party we had two vodka and liquor punches set up. I wanted to keep them cold and as flavorful as possible throughout the night so I wanted some serious ice. I made crystal light in each water bottle and laid them on their sides in the freezer overnight. You can see some space along the right side of the bottle.

The bottles were super thin and easy to cut apart with kitchen scissors to get the ice out. You can see below, the bottle on the left has the plastic "banana peeled" back.

These are the ice "logs" sitting in the beverage dispenser waiting to chill a high powered drink. I was super excited this worked. The ice lasted for several hours and they released their pink lemonade flavor as they melted. I can't wait to make different flavors in the future.

Field Day was a Success!!!

At the beginning of the party, teams were selected by people reaching into a bag to select their bandanna. We had two teams of four and one team of five. We didn't worry about the no spouses on the same team for the sake of just getting the party rolling. It worked out just fine. The teams were perfect.
Blue Team

Red Team, later lovingly rename Team F"red" because he was the star athlete.

Team White

The first game we played was the actual hammer-Hammer Throw. We had five hammers for people to chose from. When we were practicing the police rolled up and sat watching us for awhile. My Dad told everyone to drop their hammers and act normal lol The boys grabbed the footballs and starting passing and the girls milled about until the coast was clear. I do not have any pictures of this situation or the hammer throwing...I was a little stressed thinking my whole field day was about to ruined so I wasn't thinking about documenting it. After the cop left we got started. The Hammer Throw was a great way to break the ice for everyone starting off. We all had to do something goofy. The rest of the day was nothing compared to that. Below shows the next game, Long Jump.

Kelly marked the spot where someone told Mike he had to jump to. He ALMOST made it. lol I'm not sure actually.

Of course the dancer wants to try and grand jete. At least she flexed her foot like a track and field star.

Below are our punters.

My Dad saw this picture yesterday of himself and said, "shankapotomus".

Fred is still mad Dan had the punt of his life and beat his distance.

Below are pictures of the teams going out to the 50 yard line to throw the discuss. When you threw we counted the distance including if the Frisbee rolled. We prayed for good rolls.

Team F"red"

Team White

Ladies watching the Long Jump in the shade.

below is the list of games. We did not do the Torch Relay. No one wanted to run lol We did not do the cannon ball splash either. Everyone was pretty tired of competing by that point, myself NOT included though. I wanted more competition to play in. We couldn't have won at that point but my team could have really brought it in cannon ball splash. Alas, people preferred ending the games early. No problem. It's a democracy not a dictatorship. Team F"red" won Gold. Blue got Silver and White got Bronze. The players got their medals and we drank the night away reminiscing on the day's events.

Balloon shaving was a bust. The razors really could not pop the balloon. We tried. So...next year we joked that we will use straight razor blades.

Look how cute my husband is...so presh.

That was an awesome day with friend's and family. I look forward to doing it again.

Friday Funday

My birthday is this Sunday so my coworkers birthday-raided my cubical. They had confetti all over the folders covering my desk. That had to go first. I can't stand confetti on my desk. It's like any reason they have to celebrate, someone goes around and peppers people's desks with confetti. My sales partner knew my aversion so she made sure to load it up for me. Crazy work people, but we, as a whole, will do anything for a laugh around here so I'll take it. It looks wonderful and I am very grateful for those crazies.

T minus one day till Field Day!!!! I"M SO EXCITED!!!!

Sports Chest Bump

The anticipation is mounting for the upcoming field day. I am currently stressing over game rules and how to set up teams the day of. I don't want to set up the teams in advance and I'd like for it to be a little bit random.

So far rules for team set up are:
1. Spouses/couples may not be on the same team-I learned that from the Wamhoffs. They figure you already argue with that person so there is no sense having you be on the same team and adding in public humiliation.
2. There needs to be an even number of boys and girls on each team. I love girl power but if I want my team to win the hammer throw I may need a man.

I don't have anymore rules. That's it. And I'm not saying rule number three is "Have fun" because everybody says that. I'm not saying that. It's a given at my parties. Duh.

I'm thinking people will draw for teams by reaching for a colored bandanna in a bag. Team colors will be Red, White, Blue, and Grey. SO EXCITED!!!

The Games are ON!!!

I get to have my party!!! I'm so excited!!! Next weekend I will host my very first Olympic Field day with family and family friends. Evites were sent out. So far I have about 12 people. I am waiting to hear back on a few more. Hopefully they can make it!!! Those who couldn't make it... this will be a dress rehearsal to us doing this again, for sure!!

In the works:
1) Creating gold, silver, and bronze medals. I plan on getting ribbon and metal washers, painting the washers and decoupaging a logo on each.

2) Committing to a game plan. I'm thinking we will go to the field first for track and field events: Hammer throw, Long jump, Punt-Pass-Kick, Discus (frisbee), Torch relay race/obstacle course, 3 legged race. Then we can go back to the house to do other events: Source of Life (soak up pool water with a sponge and bring it to fill a 2-liter timed event against other teams(this game came from a Hunger Games field day some teachers did-I'm Katniss! lol jk)), balloon shaving, cannon ball splash, brick dive.

3) Collecting all the little things needed to play about 10 games that day:
     -Hammers
     -shaving cream
     -about five 2 liter bottles
     -sponges
     -bricks
     -balloons
     -headbands
     -footballs
     -frisbees
     -"torch"

So excited!!

Olympics: Synchro News

Image: Mary Killman and Mariya Koroleva
I just learned some very sad news. The larger USA women's Synchro team did not qualify for the London games. Luckily, though, the duet team for the US IS going. Thank goodness because I'm American and I wanna root for America in my fav sport. Duh. The picture up there shows Mary and Mariya at work. They are my only hope for American Gold this summer.
