Memorial Weekend

Memorial weekend was full of outside work for this family. My parents came over to enjoy big house living, they needed a break from the trailer and mom wanted to take a real bath lol it's the least we could offer considering all that they were up to helping us with.

They helped so much outside. My mom spent hours with me setting up a new flower bed around the second biggest oak on the land. It had previously been encapsulated by cow land. Since its emancipation I have been dawdling to get it a matching flower bed like its counterpart oak. The tree is also under watered because of elevation issues so I will be giving it more TLC from now on.

Counterpart oak. Mom pulled the listeria away from three of the azaleas. I had been wondering why they weren't growing much at all compared the larger azalea bush in that circle. She said the listeria was choking all the nutrients from it. They should now grow big and strong :)

Mamaw and Gran gran came over with the lawn mower and we all took turns with sections of the yard. Then mamaw and mom weeded the 80 foot tract in front of the house. The wild strawberries went ba-zurk. and I had all but given up on that area until I felt like mulching it. After their work I need to get mulch to cover up some saved up newspapers I want to line the beds with to prevent more weeds from moving in. But I HATE mulch. That stuff stinks to high heaven and makes my allergies go crazy...but it is a necessary evil.

Sunday was the hottest day so we did some good front porch sittin to cool off at the end.

The place looked so great for Memorial Day. I was so proud to display a few American flags.

We are feeling very thankful for our home. Despite the time required for upkeep outside, at least it forces us to enjoy the outdoors.

Oh and I also had a city girl moment on Saturday. My neighbor called and asked if I had seen a horse roaming about. I said I surely had not. I think I would notice a white or as they said, "buckskin" colored beauty traipsing down the road. This ain't normal suburbia like I prefer to think of it as. I wish I had seen it though. That would have made my day trying to wrangle a lose horse. Can you imagine?!

They did find it finally late Sunday night, thank goodness!
