Last Ha-rah

We've got t-minus three weeks until the due date!

This past weekend we traveled to Baton Rouge to watch the Aggies and Tigers play. The forecast leading up to the weekend left no room for mistaking its miserable possibilities.

On our way to the stadium!

The Blue Man Group.

View from the upper deck concession area. A great sea of red roofs!! And the Memorial Tower!

Pregame

People came out, filling the stadium in the 50 degree, misty weather. We had tickets in the Aggie section.
One fellow down the row let my mom and I know we were in the wrong section. I thought it but kept my mouth shut...he was in the wrong stadium. Better to win or lose quietly than win or lose like a loud jerk. There were a few other dimwits in the area. A few aggies and a few tigers. Just the way it goes when 90 thousand gather in one area.

The 1st quarter dragged on so long. So much back and forth with little to no success for either side. My mom looked at me and said, "we have not figured them out".

Luck and preparation favored the Tigers that evening and made for a rather awkward couple of hours surrounded by let down fans.

A fellow near us hollered out, "Come on, Johnny! It's cold up here!" and we all had a good laugh.

The Fightin' Texas Aggie Band took the field at halftime and did some cool stuff none of us had seen. I mumbled to Dan that I hoped they do the Texas "T" and let em all know where they're from...and they did!

With five minutes left in the game Mamaw stood up and had a look I have seen on Gran-gran many times. It is a look of determined, unstoppable resolution. She said, "Let's go", and so we went.

We came home in time to get Lily from the kennel and set up our Christmas Tree. We decided to pause for a moment at level one and enjoy a beautiful Christmas Bush.

We have since added the last two levels.

Thankful for this week! Happy Thanksgiving!

Next Door Shower

My bff Celia hosted a shower for me in collaboration with my sweet neighbor Kristi last Saturday. It was super fun getting together again with my neighbors and family and friends!!

I got hooked up with onsies!!! LSU and aTm.

We coo'd over baby Jude. 3 months old these days. Here we are surrounding him. My plump belly in full view though.

Baby Butt cake!! It was super yummy with the pudding I like in the middle.

Celia's games were super great...several that you could do between stuffing your face with all the apps and cake and punch and one that had everybody channeling their inner child. Play-doh time. We all made a little baby and I got to pick the best. Here are a few of the contenders.

I went for this one because it had an LSU theme and what was a pacie but to me looked like a goatee.

Later in the week my cord blood donation kit came in the mail! Yay science!!!!!!!!!

Prepping for this baby has been awesome. I am a last minute kind of person so having a time limit which is relatively unknown really inspires pressure inducing cleaning insanity.

I have been going room by room, closet by closet, and drawer by drawer organizing papers and things that haven't been touched since we moved here 3 years ago...for shame on me!! So while my house looks like the picture below...real progress and two bags of trash have been made.

Random side note: The fall colors are peaking through!

36 weeks and two daysssss

Action Packed

Friday was my last day at work. It was stressful day of making calls and tying up loose ends. I was anxious and nervous to walk out for the last time. I had been there for three years and it felt like I would never leave. My coworkers were super kind and held a farewell lunch for me. They hooked me up with diapers and a gift card...I was shocked and very thankful for their support.

I knew when they were ordering a cake for me so I pulled rank and asked for TWO. This is a whipped icing white cake with pudding in the middle....YES.

And this beauty right here is a fruit tart with a creamy custard. Simple syrup all over that.

I got a picture with my boss. He was always awesome.

...and good humored.

Saturday we had a beautiful wedding to attend in Houston. Friend-Greg and Kristy got married! The ceremony was gorgeous! The reception was held at the bride's parents home. We took charter buses over there. I was very excited they had seat belts so I put mine on for the three minute journey.

Treating myself with a nice coca cola. Poolside.

Hot date.

I wish I had a full length picture in this dress because it was a huge pain the you-know-what to find. I had emotional breakdowns the whole week trying to find a black tie optional dress...in Beaumont...that fit my belly...and was not expensive...Well I done did it. This bad boy was at Marshalls and I got it for $12. I win. And the heels I wore were $13. I win again. And I did not get creepy swollen feet. Bonus. I felt like a "maxinista". I know, totally different store.

On Sunday we came back to the Golden Triangle for our holiday/bump pictures in Downtown Beaumont, right next to our wedding reception area, like one block from it.

On Sundays we wear blue.

We reenacted this photo...baby bump style! So excited to see how it comes out.

Our first proof!!

All the while, Lily was sick again with the same thing (we think) as before. Water born protozoa, coccidia. So on my first day of retirement I took her to the stinky vet to get checked out. Dan told me that my first day was full of "mom" stuff. We had the vet visit, I had an OB appointment then we went to a breastfeeding class that night.

Here lily is as a sheep dog, sleeping off the sickness.

35 weeks yesterday! Baby is growing and moving a lot! The doctor thinks he will be full term and 8 pounds. Our next appointment is in two weeks where he will examine me more closely to narrow down the due date and birth weight!! Yay Baby Dan! Can't wait to meet you. Baby time is coming and we are "all in".

Church Shower

My church friends hosted a baby shower for me this past Saturday and I was blown away by their generosity!

The cake tasted like wedding cake. Amaretto or almond...I'm not sure, no one was, but it was delicious.

I was dared to eat a baby booty so I did.

It was marshmallow on the inside!!!

Ari made me a huge latchook. She said she started it before she knew the gender. She, like me, thought it was going to end up being a girl but SURPRISE...it's a boy! She kept on and I'm glad she did. I plan to make a huge floor pillow out of it.  I think the little guy will like it as we try to introduce him to our favorite stories from when we were kids.

He got so many clothes! Including a little outfit with an alligator on the butt...now he can dress like his big furry sister, Lily, when we put her in her Gator costume randomly through out the year.

JJ WATT!

With my five hostesses and a few of the guests. All of these women have taken me under their wings and showed me a welcomed time at church. I couldn't ask for a better church family than them. I hope to make them proud going forward. And I can't wait to baptize baby Dan Wam in front of all of them early next year!

Trunk or Treat

Halloween morning offered up apocalyptic rains and flooded roads...

My drive in:

Taken by Channel 6 and posted to Facebook. This was when everyone was driving in during the AM rush hour. I pass this on my way to work...I did not use the access road like those folks.

The parking lot exiting my work. Some poor soul wasn't aware of the ditch beneath the water and took their turn too sharp. They're jeep was perfectly fine after being helped out.

Leaving the Doctor's office after a baby appointment. My hospital is down the street from my work building. My SUV and Dan's truck handled business.

Leaving the hospital. At an intersection.

Despite all that, the skies cleared and Trunk or Treat at church was a "go". I had planned on making Dan's Mustang Lightening McQueen but the festivities were brought indoors and I went with an easy standby for me, a hippie theme. I needed to buy nothing and I was the only non-scary halloweener in there. Bam. I was also the most boring. Bummer. I posted up in a chair and simply passed out candy while my compatriots hosted little games. Oh well.

And the number one reason why I love being involved with the youth is seeing them at events like this and enjoying it with them.

Until next year. It better be outside because my car will rock and I stand a chance to place for a trophy...Dreamin' Big.
